Comparison

Inventory Scan vs Sortly.

Sortly is a fine product. Here's where we differ.

Where Inventory Scan wins

  • Built-in alert digest, no Zapier
  • Folder views per area
  • Thresholds on the free plan
  • Supplier/lot via custom fields

Where Sortly wins

  • Per-batch tracking with expiration
  • Direct supplier reorder integrations

FAQ

Common questions.

How does the alert work?

A daily background job at 14:00 UTC scans every workspace, finds items where quantity is at or below threshold, and emails admins a digest. 20-hour cooldown prevents double-sends.

Can I get alerts in real time?

Today it's a once-daily digest. Real-time webhooks and Slack are on the roadmap.

What time does it send?

14:00 UTC default. Per-workspace timezone scheduling is a future enhancement.

Does it integrate with reorder systems?

Not directly yet. Export the low-stock filtered list as XLSX and feed your purchasing system.

Can I track expiration dates?

Add an 'Expires' date custom field. Auto-alerts on expiry are on the roadmap (today alerts are quantity-based).

Does the threshold show in the dashboard?

Yes. The dashboard has a Low stock card that filters items to only those at or below threshold.
