Common questions.

What counts as an asset versus inventory?

An asset is something you own and keep: a laptop, a drill, a projector. Inventory is stock you sell or consume. Inventory Scan handles both in one workspace, so a laptop you track by serial number and a box of screws you track by quantity can sit side by side.

Can I import an existing asset register?

Yes. Upload CSV or XLSX. Headers like 'asset id', 'serial', and 'location' map automatically, and anything else maps to custom fields by name.

Can I track who has each asset?

Yes. Check an asset out to a named borrower with an optional due-back date, then check it back in. The Checked out page groups everything currently out by borrower and flags anything past due.

Do you support depreciation?

Not today. You can store purchase price and purchase date per asset and export to XLSX, but there is no built-in depreciation schedule. If that's your main requirement, a dedicated fixed-asset accounting tool will fit better.

Can I use our existing asset tags?

Yes. Type your tag number into the asset's code field and scanning that tag opens the record, exactly like an auto-generated one.

Is there an audit trail?

Yes. Per-asset history plus a workspace-wide activity log covering every change, with who made it and when. How far back you can look depends on your plan.

How many people can use it?

Two on the free plan, more on paid. Everyone shares one workspace and sees the same assets.
